The song was written by Philip Baptiste and George Khoury, it was recorded by Philip Baptiste in the year "1959" and was a popular song at the time, but later was recorded by the musician in the UK called Marty Wilde and many more singers later I describe actually each version is different and unique so worth listening to each of the performances, according Baptiste "Sea of love" was born from the inspiration of a love he met during his years as a worker and the song bears some controversy Because you can hear in one of the lines in the original version the following sentence:
"You remember when we met, that's the day I knew you were my pet"
The word "mascot" was a harmless caricature in 1959, allowing the song to become a submission story by Power, Iggy Pop, and especially Waits. The Honeydrippers version changed the lyrics to "I knew you were mine", thus eliminating any interpretation.

The original version is very good, the voice is really nice, the notes it reaches are excellent, the slow music gives it another meaning much deeper and romantic, the choirs that are performed between each choir are wonderful.Love this very good and romantic version. |

This version sounds different from the original version, but the music is about rhythms, the choir does not fit so well with the song, the voice is powerful in this version and it's the only thing I can rescue besides the good treble and bass: D , Although I must admit that it has a good rhythm. |
Third version by Robert Plant's The Honeydrippers
This version is not to my liking, because I think it makes it sound dull and bland, personally I think the only flaw in this version is the slow rhythm and the voice that does not sound enough, I think it lacks feeling and emotion. |
Fourth version By Tom Waits
I love this version, and I think Tom Waits is already on my list of favorite singers, in the song we do not hear the best voice, but I think it reminds me of Nick Cave or Loud reed, who love his voice and his songs, Song has a more aggressive and rude tone compared to the latest versions which gives it a plus to be one of my favorite versions. |
Iggy Pop - Sea Of Love
Horrible version and disgusting, I did not like it, it's my opinion but it was not to my liking sorry. With another voice would be great since the rhythm that carries the whole song is good. |
Sea of Love- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
It is not my favorite version, I think it is not very romantic and the rhythm makes it lose the message inside the letter. |

One of the best versions I hear of this song, a female version has another meaning and we can listen to it throughout the song but something I dislike of this version is that it does not remind me of something romantic rather something sad and painful, of any Form is one of the best versions that exist of this song. |

Version is passable but nothing else, the voice is good but lacks something to make me vibrate in any form is very good version, I think you could use it to make a slow dance with the love of my life L r. |
